Chateau La Canorgue is located on the heart of Luberon, just below the hilltop village of Bonnieux, between Avignon and Aix-en-Provence. The family-owned estate has been home to six generations of the Margan family and has been farmed organically since 1978.
Jean-Pierre Margan, his wife, Martine, and his daughter, Natalie, farm 42 hectares of terraced vineyards. Pioneers of organic wine in the Louberon, the Margans also incorporate biodynamic principles into their farming practices proving their commitment to their terroir. Yields are kept extremely low at 30 hl per hectare, about half of what is authorized in the appellation. Thanks to their hard work and dedication to quality La Canorgue is recognized as one of the leading producers in the region.
Their vineyards are planted on clay and limestone soils with classic southern French varietals for whites, including Roussanne, Marsanne, Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc, Rolle (Vermentino), and Viognier. For their reds they grow Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Gamay.
